5 Star Contracts with the City of Newport News Library System to Support Their High Performance Organization (HPO) Initiatives


July 1, 2006, Newport News, VA - The library system has contracted with 5 Star to provide training at their annual all-staff meeting of over 90 employees. The training program reviews the topics of teamwork, vision, and leadership through the use of interactive small group sessions. The goal of the program is to introduce the concept of HPO to the staff and share the performance management vision of the library system.


5 Star Contracts with Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipyard for a Rewrite of Their Train-the-Trainer Curriculum


July 1, 2006, Newport News, VA  5 Star has taught the shipyards train-the-trainer (T3) program for subject-matter experts for the past five years. Due to new training needs and volume, 5 Star has contracted with NGNN, Dept. O25, to conduct an extensive update to their T3 program. This includes restructuring the format of the program for more flexibility to meet the participants various training responsibilities, and new participant materials.


5 Star Contracts with U.S. Air Force 1st Fighter Wing for Strategic Planning Training


June 1, 2006, Hampton, VA  A refocus on the strategic planning process has led the 1st Fighter Wing of the U.S. Air Force to request 5 Star for training on the specifics of developing a strategic plan and how to manage the process. 5 Star is providing a 6 day program in June, for selected active duty and civil service personnel, on the principles of group facilitation and a review of the wings strategic planning process which was developed in the 90's.


5-Star Contracts with Langleys Air Force Personnel Office For Communications Skills Training


March 16, 2006, Hampton, VA  In an effort to prepare for the roll-out of the new National Security Personnel System, Langley has contracted with 5 Star to provide a customized communication skills training program for all 1600 of their workforce personnel. The training will be conducted on their site through the months of April and May.


5-Star Contracts with U.S. Naval Support Activity for Meeting Leadership and Facilitation Skills Training


March 16, 2006, Norfolk, VA  NSA is continuing to contract 5 Stars meeting management training for their selected civilian and military personnel. They have scheduled for the remaining fiscal year, two Meeting Leadership Skills courses, a total of six days in length, and a Meeting Facilitation Skills course, five days in length.

February 13, 2006, Williamsburg, VA  Kingsmill Resort and Spa looks forward to another year of leadership development training with 5 Star Training and Consulting. They have requested for next month one of their favorites, Finding the Creative Solution (problem-solving) and a new addition, Interviewing for the Right Fit.


5-Star Receives Pilot Training Contract with 1st Advantage Credit Union


February 13, 2006, Yorktown, VA - 1st Advantage Credit Union has contracted with 5 Star Training and Consulting for two pilot training sessions for over 40 of their employees. Their satisfaction of the communications training course could lead to additional team development training.


5-Star Receives Supervisory Training Contract with Siemens VDO


February 13, 2006, Newport News, VA - Siemens VDO has requested more training services from 5 Star Training and Consulting. The last contract successfully completed in 2005 was process improvement training for all hourly most salary workers in the plant. They have now contracted a pilot run of supervisory training, starting with four classes of communications training.


5-Star Receives Training Contract for Fleet Forces Command Civilian Personnel


February 13, 2006, Norfolk, VA  Fleet Forces Command has contracted with 5 Star Training and Consulting to provide supervisory staff preparation training for the new civilian personnel system, NSPS. The training programs are selected to develop their skills in areas such as communication, teambuilding and coaching. The classes will be offered as an open enrollment once a month as the need is determined.


5-Star Receives Teambuilding Contract with the City of Newport News


January 18, 2006, Newport News, VA  As part of the citys progression in their High Performance Organization (HPO) effort, they have contracted with 5 Star to provide customized teamwork and teambuilding training for their cross-function HPO leadership core. The training will focus on topics such as managing effective meetings, understanding and using data, and making group decisions. 5 Star has provided different types of leadership training for the city for over seven years.


5-Star Receives Contracts with Multiple Departments of Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipyard


January 18, 2006, Newport News, VA  Engineering departments within NGNN have contracted with 5 Star to provide leadership training for their supervisory staff, and a train the trainer program for their instructors. The supervisory training topics include leadership, time management, and communication skills. The train the trainer program is designed to improve platform skills and covers basic training principles. 5 Star has contracted with NGNN multiple times for over six years.


5-Star Receives Train the Trainer Contract with NAVSEA Lean Six Sigma College


January 6, 2006, Norfolk, VA  Six Sigma College has experienced much change and growth since its inception in 2001. As part of their effort to provide an outstanding educational system and produce effective Six Sigma black belts, they have contracted with 5 Star Training and Consulting to perform an advance train the trainer program for their college instructors. The program is designed to help the industry expert instructors further understand and apply important learning theories, performance based strategies, and training evaluation practices into their educational system. This will be the first contract between 5 Star and the college.


5 Star Receives Meeting Leadership Training Contract with Naval Support Activity, Norfolk VA


December 6, 2005, Norfolk, VA - 5 Star has been awarded a contract to conduct a new three-day training course called Leading High Performance Meetings for Naval Support Activity (NSA) in Norfolk, VA. The fourteen participants of the training session will learn how to better plan, conduct and follow through with the important elements of process improvement meetings. 5 Star will train the participants to work more effectively, either with or without a facilitator, so meetings can maximize their productivity. 5 Star will also evaluate the training program through follow-up coaching with the participants and an evaluation survey conducted 90 days later.


VQI Becomes 5 Star Training and Consulting

VQI Inc. Receives Teambuilding Contract with Ball Metal Container Corporation


November 10, 2005, Hampton, VA - VQI has been awarded a contract to conduct teambuilding with Ball Metal. VQI will perform assessments with supervisors and hourly workers to determine the specific needs of the workforce. VQI will then train the entire plant on group and teambuilding skills. VQI will also help develop a process check procedure to monitor the implementation of the teambuilding principles over the course of the rest of the year. This will be the fourth time Ball Metal has contracted with VQI to do training.
